No one faces cancer alone with Flatwater. Every dollar raised through Flatwater’s Dam That Cancer Presented by TYLER’S goes directly toward providing access to mental health therapy for individuals, couples, and families facing the emotional toll of cancer.
Now in its 17th year, Dam That Cancer (DTC) is Flatwater’s premier annual fundraising event - a community-powered day on Lake Austin that brings people together on and off the water in support of mental health care when it’s needed most. In 2025, the DTC community raised $1.53 million for Flatwater.
The impact is real - thousands of therapy sessions delivered at no cost to Central Texans navigating the emotional and financial toll of cancer.
An Event Built for everyone
Dam That Cancer is inclusive, welcoming, and approachable! You don’t need to be an experienced paddle boarder or have participated before to be apart of it.
Whether you’re on the water, supporting from land, or gathering with the community, there’s a place for everyone at DTC.

What to Expect:
A 10-hour, 21-mile paddle, followed by a celebration rooted in community and connection.
This is not a race. We paddle together, take frequent regroup and water/snack breaks, and make sure no one is left behind - every paddler is supported from start to finish!
A mandatory paddler safety meeting the day before where participants will review on-the-water expectations and pick up their event swag.
Trained safety leads + support boats on the water, ensuring paddlers are supported throughout the entire route.
The DTC Post-Paddle Party, open to everyone
Highly recommended training paddles will be available ahead of the event - a great way to build confidence and connect with the community!
After the paddle, the celebration continues - everyone of all ages are invited to come out, gather, and support Flatwater’s mission at the LCRA Red Bud Center from 6-8 PM.
