THERAPY IN THE

WAKE OF CANCER

Flatwater connects anyone touched by cancer with mental health therapists to help heal and navigate what lies ahead, providing access to mental health therapy in the wake of cancer.

A cancer diagnosis can cause waves in every direction.

Who We Serve

A cancer diagnosis impacts not the person facing it, but also their loved ones. Mental health is an often unaddressed but essential part of the journey— therapy can help people through the challenges that may arise.

We connect individuals, couples, and families affected by cancer in Central Texas to licensed therapists, at any stage of the journey.

the person diagnosed

The individual navigating a diagnosis, treatment, survivorship - at any stage they are navigating.

the people beside them

Caregivers, spouses, partners, siblings, loved ones carrying the emotional weight.

the whole household

Families including children, feeling the impact and finding their way through it together.

Cancer brings a financial strain that can touch anyone in its orbit — out-of-pocket costs, lost income, the weight of paying for care. In Texas, therapy averages $175 a session, often feeling out of reach for those already managing so much. Since 2010, Flatwater has given Central Texans access to up to 40 sessions of mental health therapy at no cost — one less worry on their journey to finding their Flatwater.

How we help

two paths to healing, one shared goal

Therapy looks different for every person. Flatwater funds access to both Psychotherapy and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, so care can meet people where they are.

Psychotherapy

Also known as talk therapy, is a process that uses a variety of different methods to help people identify and navigate difficult thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

equine assisted psychotherapy

A hands-on approach that incorporates horses into the therapeutic process — supporting emotional growth through real-time connection, as an alternative to talk therapy.

How it Works

Getting support takes a few steps

No paperwork. No clinical referral needed. Just a straightforward path to care.
